A private jet with 10 persons onboard has reportedly crash-landed in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The passengers are said to be Very Important Persons [VIPs] on their way to a social party in Ibadan or a neighbouring state. The jet reportedly took off from Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
The jet was said to have crash-landed on Friday around 11 am at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport.
Firefighters and rescue officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria have been deployed to the scene.
The incident is coming about a fortnight after an explosion rocked the ancient city, killing people and damaging goods worth billions of Naira.
Speaking on the issue, the Director of Accident Investigation Bureau and Consumer Protection, Wunmi Oladeji, confirmed the incident but declined further comment.
“A team of investigators are already here in Ibadan. I may not be able to give you details until after their findings. So far I have your contact, I will get back to you,” she said.
Though there was no record of death as all the passengers on board were rescued on time, unconfirmed reports said the passengers were in town to attend a party.
The source, who did not want his name in print, said, “The passengers are all very important personalities, and they took off from the Abuja airport.
“And with what I learnt, they were going for a party either here in Ibadan or neighbouring town or state.”
