- Pays tribute to Late Justice Nweze
On Wednesday, October 4, 2023, the Federal High Court will welcome 23 new Judges who will be sworn-in by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.
The oath of office ceremony will take place at the Supreme Court of Nigeria’s main courtroom in Abuja, at 11am, according to a statement by Dr. Festus Akande, the Court’s Director of Press and Information.
The new Judges come from different states of the federation and have diverse backgrounds and experiences.
They are: Isaac Deinde Dipeolu from Ogun State; Kehinde Olayiwola Ogundare from Ekiti State; Olufunmilola Adetutu Agbaje from Lagos State; Kakaki Musa from Kaduna State; Muhammad Dan-Ige Abdullahi from Sokoto State; and Ishaya Sharon Tanko from Kebbi State.
Also joining them are: Ibrahim Olasupo Salim from Ogun State; Joseph Yilwa Hauwa from Gombe State; Joy Chituru Wigwe-Oreh from Rivers State; Alexander Oluseyi Owoeye from Kogi State; Onoja-Alapa Anyalewa from Benue State; Mohammad Amina Aliyu from Katsina State; Jordan Adeyemi Abiodun from Kwara State; Buhari Hauwa from Federal Capital Territory; and Ibrahim Auta Aishatu from Borno State.
The remaining new Judges are: Dadan-Garba Hussaini from Bauchi State; Kala Ibrahim Ahmad from Gombe State; Salisu Mashkur from Zamfara State; Sergius Chigozie Onah from Enugu State; Joshua Raphael Egbe from Bayelsa State; Olukayode Jnr. Ariwoola from Oyo State; Udofot Akpan Ekerete from Akwa Ibom State; and Nkemakonam Friday Ogazi from Ebonyi State.
The Court will also pay tribute to the late Justice Chima Centus Nweze on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, with a valedictory Court session at the Supreme Court’s Main Courtroom at 10am.
