I can’t get over the miracle of giving Ooni heir apparent -ex-Olori Naomi

A former wife of the Ooni of Ife, Naomi Ogunwusi, says she is happy to have been the wife that gave birth to the crown prince.

Describing it as a ‘miracle,’ the mother-of-one said she didn’t know why she deserved the honour.

She added that, contrary to what many people might think, her life in the palace had neither been innocent nor soft while it lasted.

Naomi said this while recounting her experience as the queen in the palace of the Ooni of Ife, whom she divorced in December 2021.

The divorce generated a lot of controversies when she announced that she had separated from Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II in an Instagram post.

I entered the palace too innocent and soft

Narrating her experience to The PUNCH, Naomi said she entered the palace too innocent and soft, adding, “but you have to be strong and bold in life.”

She said, “I am hesitant about speaking about my experiences in the palace. But in my usual way of talking, it was a bitter-sweet experience. Details I will not be sharing, but it was a bitter-sweet experience.

“There were really sweet moments and there were really bitter moments. It is not yet time to talk about it because some things are meant to just teach you by yourself.

“I believe the messages are just for me at the moment. When God wants to enlarge and expand on it and make it a message for the whole world, then I will hear His voice and talk about it.”

She added, “Lessons learned are personal and they have helped in shaping me. I am enjoying 30 so much; 30 makes me really strong. I was too innocent; I think I entered the palace too innocent and soft, but life is not like that, you have to be strong, bold and courageous.”

God has to love me to give me that golden child. I am the golden goose that lays the golden egg

Speaking on the possible likelihood of her reconciliation with the Ooni, she swore that she could not live with the king’s six other wives in the palace.

“I am going to answer that question with a question. As I have been speaking to you for the past hour, do I look like someone who can survive in the midst of six mature and strong women?

“No! She [referring to herself] is but a soft, strong, gentle woman; and I can’t be a square peg in a round hole.”

The ex-queen also threw shade at other wives, stating that she is the mother of the heir to the throne and that no one could take that from her.

“It feels so beautiful to be the mother of the heir to the throne and the greatest miracle I have experienced in three decades of my life.

“You can’t take that away from me. Ask me to drop everything, but the crown he has given me — my son is my crown, Ademide.

“He is not going anywhere; it is a precious gift, and my shoulder pad is high. I am holding it like a priceless, untapped, natural resource. I am very excited about it.

“I feel very proud and honoured by God. I still can’t tell what I did; I still can’t tell why God loves me this much because I tell you, God has to love me to give me that golden child. I am the golden goose that lays the golden egg.

“That is how it feels. It is a special gift. I am still going to talk about that in a few years’ to come. I can’t get over the miracle.”
