A Sharia Court in Rijiyar Lemo, Kano State, heard a case of a wife who threatened to re-circumcise her husband, Malam Ali.
Ali complained to the court that his wife had been menacing him for a long time with the intention of renewing his circumcision, and that she had even bought a sharp knife and kept it in the house, as reported by the Daily Trust.
He said he had been living in fear since then, especially because he had two wives. He begged the court to intervene and stop his wife from carrying out her plan.
The court, headed by Malam Sunusi Danbaba Daurawa, adjourned the matter till October 4, for further hearing.
After the court session, the husband told journalists that he had searched her room and confiscated the sharp knife to protect himself, but he was still not at ease.
“I don’t understand why she wants to do this; she insists that she must renew it. I still love my wife and we have a peaceful relationship. This is the only problem I have with her,” he said.
“That is why I brought her to the court to see if they can stop her,” he said.
However, the wife declined to speak to journalists about her motive for trying to re-circumcise her husband.
