I wanted to start new life with new wife after wasting 30 years abroad -67-year-old drug suspect

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency says it has arrested a 67-year-old man, Chukwuemeka Clement, who allegedly swallowed 100 cocaine wraps, at the Abuja airport.

The agency quoted the elderly man as saying that he wanted to start a new life with a new wife after losing 30 years in Brazil, Ethiopia and Thailand.

He was caught on Tuesday 3rd October as he arrived from Addis Ababa on an Ethiopian Airlines flight 951.

A body scan showed he had many pellets in his stomach.

He later passed out 100 cocaine wraps weighing 2.195 kilograms in four installments.

He told the NDLEA that he had been living abroad for 30 years, but his wife died and he had no child.

He decided to try drug trafficking to make enough money to marry again and live well.

Another drug suspect, a 45-year-old woman, Bilkisu Mohammed Bello, was also arrested on the same day at the Kano airport.
