Kano State Govt moves to regulate traditional medicine practice

The Kano Government have concluded plans to support traditional medicine vendors through training programmes and partnerships with healthcare institutions, and the creation of a regulatory board.

Governor Abba Yusuf made this known while inaugurating the Kano State Task force Committee on Immunisation.

Yusuf commended the contributions of traditional medicine practitioners to the state’s health sector.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improve healthcare service delivery and stressed the importance of collaboration between traditional and modern medical practices.

The governor announced plans to support traditional medicine vendors through training programmes and partnerships with healthcare institutions, and the creation of a regulatory board.

These initiatives, he said, are aimed at modernising traditional practices, enhance their safety and effectiveness, and integrate them more closely with the state’s healthcare system.

The national president of the association Dr Shaba Maikudi, expressed his appreciation during the inauguration of the committee,

He praised the governor for revitalising the healthcare sector and for paying special attention to the traditional medicine community.

He expressed gratitude for the resources provided by the government, which have enabled traditional medicine practitioners to work more effectively.

Maikudi also urged the governor to establish a Traditional Medicine Board to further integrate traditional practices into the state’s healthcare system. (NAN)
