Twenty-seven-year-old Miss Wasilat Adegoke became the youngest commissioner in Oyo State history when she was sworn in as the Commissioner for Youths and Sports by Governor Seyi Makinde on Friday.
She joined Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, who was sworn in as the Commissioner for Health, and two other women in the governor’s second term cabinet.
The ceremony took place at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office in Agodi, Ibadan, the state capital.
Governor Makinde congratulated the new commissioners and urged them to work with passion and dedication to implement the government policies in their respective ministries.
He also reminded them to follow the policy direction of his administration as captured in his roadmap for sustainable development that will benefit the people.
The governor tasked the new Commissioner for Youth and Sports to work with other relevant partners to promote talent discovery and grassroots sports development.
He also asked her to prioritise the completion of the second phase of the Lekan Salami Sports complex.
The governor expressed his commitment to improve the health sector from its 50-60 per cent infrastructural performance.
He said he was confident that when Primary Health Care facilities across the local wards in the state are fully equipped and staffed, they would relieve the burden on the state secondary healthcare facilities.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Adegoke, spoke with journalists after the ceremony. He assured residents of the quality primary healthcare services.
He also promised to give his best to good governance in the state.
