A father-of-two, Mallam Umar Tasiu, was allegedly flogged to death by his ex-wife’s relatives in Minna, Niger State.
According to Daily Post, Umar Tasiu had only wanted to visit his children, who were living with their mother and grandfather.
But his former in-laws allegedly did not welcome him and decided to punish him for coming to their house.
They reportedly tied him up and whipped him mercilessly until he died in their custody.
His body was returned to his own house the next night and he was buried the following morning, Daily Post reports.
The Police have confirmed the case, but the Police account stated that Umar Tasiu was attacked by some hoodlums in Minna, who inflicted severe injuries on him.
He was taken to the IBB Specialist Hospital, Minna, where he succumbed to his wounds.
The police spokesman, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said that investigation was ongoing and the suspects are being hunted down.
