Man charged with burglary, theft of N6m property

The police in Lagos on Friday arraigned a 22-year-old man, Usama Abbas, who allegedly broke into a house and stole property valued at N6 million.

The defendant, who resides at Ikorodu, Lagos State, is charged with conspiracy, burglary and stealing before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

He, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp Christopher John, had told the court that the defendant committed the offences on February 23 at Ipinyewa Adamo area of Ikorodu.

The prosecutor said that the defendant and others at large broke into the house of one Mr Hamid Ajibade and stole some of his property.

The prosecutor said that the defendant stole cables, two standing fans , two power stabilisers, one microwave and one power inverter.

The prosecutor said that the defendant was apprehended while his accomplices escaped.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 280, 307 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. A. Ogunjobi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N400,000 with two sureties in likesum.

Ogunjobi adjourned the case until April 24 for mention. (NAN)
