Miss Onome Friday has joyfully reunited with her three-year-old son, Chinonso Uchendi, on January 25, 2024, after a distressing two-year separation.
The separation began on January 22, 2022, when the child’s father reportedly absconded with him, leaving the mother without access to her son.
Human rights activist, Kelvin Ejumudo, said he played a pivotal role in facilitating the reunion.
Onome also expressed relief, stating, “I will sleep well today now that my son is back.”
The emotional moment unfolded as little Chinonso Uchendi was brought back from Abia state, where he had been kept, allegedly by his father.
The reunion came after exhaustive efforts by Onome to regain custody of her child. All attempts to locate and retrieve Chinonso had been futile until his father was detained at the Ekpan Police Station.
During questioning, he was said to have disclosed the whereabouts of the child, leading to the child’s rescue.
Ejumudo, the human rights activist, urged men not to deprive mothers access to their children, cautioning that such actions could lead to depression due to the void it creates in their lives.
