Amid health challenges, Nigerian comic actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, finds himself entangled in a family feud as his son and adopted daughter Jasmine have been said to be arrested for allegedly moving N300m from the account meant for his treatment.
Actress Doris Ogala had posted on social media that Jasmine Okeke and Mr Ibu’s son are detained at Alagbon Police Station, Lagos, for alleged fraud.
Reports also have it that Jasmine is about flying abroad with huge funds donated to assist ailing Mr Ibu.
It would be recalled that Mr. Ibu recently had one of his legs amputated due to an infection of the arteries at his ankle.
The amputation, it was gathered became necessary because it was not detected early enough. It was also gathered that the actor has had seven successful surgeries, including an amputation of one of hi’s legs.
While the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation fully covered the media expenses of the renowned actor; it urged others to come forward and assist the comic actor in any capacity. Donations have since been flowing in for the ailing actor from different quarters
Mixed reactions have however trailed the post by Doris Ogala alleging fraud, as some netizens regard it as untrue, claiming that the total sum of monies contributed for the actor so far is not up to N300m.
In fact, some aggrieved social media users have asked Nigerians to stop contributing to Mr. Ibu.
