Nigeria loses appellate court judge, paramount ruler

A retired Justice of the Court of Appeal, Ahmad Olanrewaju Belgore, is dead.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association, Ilorin Branch, Kwara State, Kamaldeen Gambari, announced his death on Tuesday.

“Information reaching me now indicates that Hon. Justice Ahmad Olarewaju Belgore, PCJA (retd.) is dead. May Allah forgive his shortcomings,” Gambari said in a social media post.

Belgore retired as the Justice of the Court of Appeal on April 18, 2023, on the attainment of the retirement age of 70.

This is even as the paramount ruler of Isolo in Lagos State, Osolo of Isolo Land, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Kabiru Alani Agbabiaka has also been reported dead.

He died in the early hours of Wednesday [today] at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, (LASUTH), Ikeja, after a brief illness.

Oba Agbabiaka died at the age of 64, three months to the celebration of his 20th coronation anniversary.

There has not been any official statement from the palace secretary or any member of his cabinet.
