A woman riding in a commercial tricycle reportedly died when the driver of the tricycle had a head-on collision with a Lexus jeep.
The incident happened on Thursday afternoon at the Complex Link Road, Ekpan, Warri in Delta State.
An eyewitness account states that a policeman from the Ugborikoko Police Station was collaborating with members of an anti cult group, and that they also seized the opportunity to extort money from commercial tricycle operators..
The eyewitness alleged that a tricycle operator had approached the area on high speed, such that the policeman was unable to stop it.
“As the tricycle operator made efforts to speed away, a member of the anti cult group was said to have entered the tricycle and forcibly seized control of the steering from the rider.
This resulted in a collision between the tricycle and a Lexus Jeep that was approaching from the opposite lane.
“A female passenger in the tricycle died as a result of the collision,” the source said.
The Police have yet to issue a statement on the incident.
