Six journalists kidnapped in Anambra State on Wednesday have been rescued, the Anambra State Police Command has disclosed.
According to reports, the journalists were kidnapped while they were travelling to Uyo through Anambra State to cover Super Eagles encounter with Libya in Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking with our reporter on Thursday evening, the Command’s spokesman SP Tochukwu Ikenga, revealed that six of the journalists had been rescued.
According to him, the six persons were rescued by a joint security operatives who had been working since yesterday to free the hostages.
He said that the journalists were seven in number that were abducted and efforts are ongoing to rescue the seventh person.
“Six of the journalists have been rescued. Operation is ongoing to rescue the seventh person. They are seven in a whole. They were rescued by a joint security operatives.
“No one has been arrested so far in connection with the abduction,” the PPRO said.
Some reports indicated that the victims were travelling in a bus through Iseke around Ihiala area of Anambra state when they were abducted on Wednesday.
