Lucky winners of various prizes were announced on Friday [today] as the 23rd edition of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), wrapped up.
Held for three days, and featuring the eagerly anticipated raffles, among others, delightful winners, all women, became news owners of a three-bedroom apartment respeceively, in Sangotedo in the downtown down-town side of Lagos, while another received a brand-new GAC salon car, along with other notable prize recipients.
Announcing the winners with cheers and applause, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said Mrs. Adu Oluwatoyin secured the three-bedroom apartment at LagosHoms, Sangotedo, while Mrs. Ibitoye Kudirat won the brand-new GAC salon car.
In addition to the grand prizes, two other participants at the conference had the chance to walk away with travel tickets worth N1.5million and N2.5million reach while numerous other attendees also celebrated winning various household items.
The governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Governmen, Barrister Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, highlighting the conference theme: “Unleash Your Potential,” emphasize that every individual women possesses the ability to create a positive impact irrespective of their background or circumstances.
While praising the raffle draw winners, which he noted underscored the transparency and fairness of the selection process, the governor commended all those recognized at the event by COWLSO and described them as shinning examples of what it means to unleash one’s potential.
He said their stories demonstrate that with determination, resilience, and a passionate heart, anything is attainable.
He also encouraged all conference participants to embrace the spirit of empowerment and recognize their boundless potential, whether as professionals, businesswomen, mother and leaders while calling for continued collaboration, emphasizing that, regardless of their tender gender, working together is vital for building a brighter and a more equitable future for Lagos state in particular, and Nigeria as a whole.
Also speaking, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdeulkadir, commended COWLSO for conceptualizing and executing an exceptional event.
Represented by his deputy, Hon Mohammed Auwal Jatu, the Bauchi governor said it underscored the significance in empowering women, promoting gender equality, as well as fostering collaboration among states. He also emphasized on the importance of the barriers that hinder women from accessing equal opportunities in all aspects of life, recalling that the diverse topics discussed at the conference will inspire more women and contribute to meaningful changes in the lives of women across the nation.
In her words, Lagos COWLSO Chairman, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, First Lady, highlighted the top-tier presentations and in-depth analysis from brilliant minds and industry experts who shared their thoughts and experiences on relevant topics, adding that they addressed the challenges women face in today’s world.
She noted that through the knowledge gained, women will learn lessons needed to focus on ways to be better empowered to make the best use of their strengths and capabilities within their homes and society.
The First Lady also advised all women and participants to make effective use of the skills and networks they acquired during the three-days conference as she expressed gratitude to top government officials, public and private partners, and other collaborators who played vital roles in ensuring the success of the 23rd National Women’s Conference.
