Rangers FC become United Nations’ FFTG member

Rangers International FC, the reigning NPFL champions, has been welcomed as a member of Football For The Goals (FFTG), a United Nations agency.

This recognition acknowledges the club’s commitment to community social impact, led by Amobi Ezeaku.

In a letter from Maher Nasser, Director of the Outreach Division, Department of Global Communications, the UN agency commended Rangers International F.C. for its dedication to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

By joining FFTG, the Enugu-based club pledges to: “Advocate for SDG awareness and implementation. Integrate SDG-aligned policies into its operations. Contribute to community development through football.”

This partnership demonstrates Rangers International F.C.’s commitment to using football as a tool for social change, aligning with the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

This collaboration sets a positive precedent for Nigerian football clubs, showcasing the power of sports in driving social impact and sustainable development.

“As a member of FFTG, Rangers International Football Club, Enugu, now has access to defined resources, content and specialized expertise within the United Nations (UN) and the opportunity to collaborate, through this initiative, in convening, discussions and events alongside the FFTG membership of fellow football stakeholders,” stated part of the document.

The General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of Rangers, Amobi Ezeaku Esq., in his reaction to the development, said, “This is a big achievement as it is no mean feat to be so recognized by a global body like the United Nations.

“It goes a long way in straightening our resolve to make positive impact in the lives of people through the game of football.

“With this, we have been further empowered to push on with our strategic plans and we are resolved to ensure that our club, Rangers International F.C becomes a champion for sustainable development and human rights and drives positive change within the football community and beyond.”
