Rema arrives Mumbai for Indian billionaire heir Anant Ambani’s wedding

Nigeria’s afrobeats megastar, Rema, has arrived in India to perform at the wedding of Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani’s son, Anant Ambani, and daughter of pharma tycoons Viren and Shaila Merchant, Radhika Merchant.

On Instagram Thursday night, the ‘Calm Down’ crooner posted a video of himself where he was seen walking towards a private chartered plane in an all-black outfit.

He added ‘Azaman’ off his recently released sophomore album, ‘He Is,’ as background music and posted an emoji of an Indian tricolour.

According to Hindustan Times, Rema is charging $3 million (N4,578,000,000 Billion) to perform his global hit song ‘Calm Down’ at the event scheduled to hold Friday at the Jio World Centre in Bandra Kurla Centre (BKC) in Mumbai.

Ambani’s father, often described as a plutocrat, is the chairman of Reliance Industries, a conglomerate with businesses in energy, gas, entertainment, retail, telecommunications, and more, according to Hollywood reporter.

With an estimated net worth of $123.3 billion as of July 2024, Mukesh Ambani is the continent’s wealthiest person and the 11th richest person in the world.

The five-month wedding spectacle is estimated to cost upwards of $600 million.

Anant, 29, is marrying his longtime girlfriend, Radhika, also 29, in what has been dubbed the wedding of the year, turning heads for its display of enormous wealth and glamor.

Canadian singer Justin Bieber was also paid $10 million for his performance at the event, as per reports.

Pop star Rihanna also performed at the event for an undisclosed fee.

The four-day wedding extravaganza in Mumbai city is the final stop in a string of lavish parties the family has hosted since March.

Kim Kardashian and former UK PMs Boris Johnson and Tony Blair, former US Secretary of State John Kerry, former Swedish PM Carl Bildt, and former Canadian PM Stephen Harper among several other prominent people who will attend the wedding.

The Kardashians, Adele, Drake, Lana Del Rey, David Beckham, and even former British Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Boris Johnson are set to be in attendance, according to local media.
