A man identified as Chidozie Michael is alleged to have brutally beaten his wife, Ufoma Michael, to death.

According to Love FM Family Station, the allegedly fleeing suspect is a pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred within their apartment on Monday night in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Speaking on the matter on her Facebook wall, Ebi Layo, who said she was a close friend of the deceased, said, “The neighbours said Mr. Chidozie was always beating his wife over minor issues.

Alleged victim of domestic violence, Ufuoma Eriera Michael

“The couple had three children aged 10, 7, and 5. To prevent his kids from witnessing his violent outbursts or intervening, he would lock his wife in one of the rooms and subject her to relentless beatings.

“Just two days ago, after beating her, he came out of the room and told the children to go to sleep. He didn’t let them see their mother.”

Yesterday morning, Chidozie reportedly contacted Ufoma’s brother, asking him to come to their residence under the pretense of an emergency.

Ebi Layo stated, “Upon arrival, the brother in-law was confronted with a chilling scene — the unconscious body of Ufoma and their distraught children.

“She was rushed to the hospital where it was confirmed that she had died some hours ago.

“Meanwhile, her husband, Chidozie had managed to flee.”

As authorities diligently work to bring justice to this devastating crime, the deceased has been transferred to a morgue, while the search for Chidozie Michael reportedly continues.
