Nasarawa high court judge dies two months after appointment

The newly appointed Judge of the High Court of Justice in Nasarawa State, Justice Tanze Benjamin Makama, has reportedly passed away.

The incident occurred on March 5, 2024, and the official statement was released Wednesday on the X page of the Nigerian Lawyers.

Makama was appointed a High Court Judge on December 29, 2023, and his demise occurred barely two months into his tenure.

The Nigerian Bar Association says the news evoked profound grief and sadness, especially within the NBA Keffi Branch.

The NBA Keffi branch chairman, Nuhu J. Egya, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the grieving family, noting, “NBA Keffi Branch Commiserates with my lord the Hon. Chief Judge and Chairman JSC and the Nasarawa State Judiciary. We pray that the Almighty God accepts his soul and grants the family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. Rest in peace.”

Reports indicate that throughout the career of the late Justice Makama, he exemplified an unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law, serving the people of Nasarawa State with utmost integrity and fairness.

He had variously served as the chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lafia branch, where he exhibited exemplary leadership skills and a profound understanding of legal affairs.

People also eulogised his exceptional contributions and expertise in the field; and he was a member of the NBA National Executive Committee (NEC).
