Suspicious wife allegedly kills self

In a heart-wrenching incident that has stunned the community, a middle-aged woman identified as Mrs. Bose Odunayo has allegedly taken her own life in Ondo State, reportedly due to the distress caused by her husband’s alleged infidelity.

The tragic episode unfolded in the Igoba area of Akure, the capital of Ondo State, leaving family and friends in shock and disbelief.

According to local reports, the mother-of-four allegedly drank a fatal herbicide after receiving a threatening call from a woman who claimed to be one of her husband’s concubines, asserting that she was pregnant with his child.

The situation took a dramatic turn when the deceased’s family unexpectedly transported her corpse from Akoko to her husband’s residence in Akure for burial. Rituals were performed before the final interment.

A source close to the family revealed that Mrs. Odunayo had consumed the toxic substance in her Igoba residence before urgently traveling to her hometown in Ifira Akoko. There, she confided in her parents about her fears that her husband’s unfaithfulness would lead to her untimely demise.

Before her tragic end, the deceased reportedly claimed that her husband’s concubine had falsely accused her of causing a miscarriage she had experienced.

Another source acquainted with the family disclosed that in a distressing incident from 2021, the woman had previously attempted suicide by ingesting the same harmful substance. However, her husband had promptly intervened, rushing her to a private hospital for necessary treatment.

Unfortunately, this time, fate took a darker turn as Mrs. Odunayo reportedly ingested the herbicide in the absence of her husband.

The grieving husband, a member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Akure, was said to have expressed shock and sorrow over the tragic turn of events.

He reportedly refuted his late wife’s claims, asserting that she had falsely stated she was solely responsible for the household expenses, including the children’s school fees.

He clarified that she was a full-time homemaker and not the primary breadwinner, contrary to her assertions.
