Taylor Swift ends year as most streamed act on Spotify in 2023

In her records-breaking Era, American music star Taylor Swift has once again become Officially Amazing as the most streamed act on Spotify in 2023.

Spotify revealed that Taylor had more than 26.1 billion streams worldwide, no doubt influenced by her record-breaking highest-grossing music tour ever.

The global icon takes her latest record title from another record holder this year, Bad Bunny, who came out on top with the most streamed album on Spotify (current year). Bad Bunny had held the most streamed act record title since 2020, with Post Malone and Billie Eilish also former holders of the record.

Taylor’s record-breaking tour saw 66 shows across the US, Mexico and South America between March and November, 4.1 million tickets sold, and $906.1 million (£718.5 million) generated at the box office. The cinematic release of her concert also broke a record title, being the highest-grossing concert or performance film at the global box office.

Taylor released two of her re-recorded albums this year – Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and 1989 (Taylor’s Version), following on from the continuing success of her 12th studio effort Midnights, released in October 2022.

Several of the songs from these albums contributed to her record title, including “I Can See You (Taylor’s Version)” (183.5 million streams as of 8 December 2023) and “Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version)” (164.1 million), while tracks such as “Anti-Hero” (1.27 billion) and “Cruel Summer” (1.44 billion) continued to feature in many users’ playlists.

Taylor now holds dozens of Guinness World Records titles, including:

• Most simultaneous albums on the US Billboard 200 for a living artist, with 10 of her albums charting at the same time.
• Most US No.1 albums by a female artist – 12
• Most US singles chart entries (female) – 212
• Most Top 10 debuts on the US Hot 100 (female) – 31
• Most simultaneous new entries on the Hot 100 (female) – 26
• Most cumulative weeks at No.1 on US albums charts (solo female) – 63
• Most monthly listeners on Spotify (female), becoming the first female artist to amass 100 million.
