Things Women Should Avoid Consuming

I know most women looking forward to the health and fitness section of “Iya magazine” might be saying, “every week na exercise upon exercise, routine upon routine ona wan kill me with fitness?” But, the fact remains that health is a priority, and we will not stop because this is the only way to remain healthy and enjoy life to the fullest.

So, we will be doing something different today – just so you know, we keep you in mind – which are things women should avoid consuming by all means, and we will be doing it Naija style. I believe this article is going to break a lot of hearts, particularly the heart of those keen on remaining healthy, but you know what they say, “it’s better to hurt you with the truth than to comfort you with a lie“, and because we love you, we will never stop telling the truth so let’s dive right into it – I’m so excited.

1. Soda aka Minerals

Stop laughing – yes you, you know yourself. Every day we hit the streets of Nigeria, we face a lot of traffic, and we indulge in having a bottle of soda, and we sometimes continue this trend while on break at work and then even after work. Do the maths with me – 3 sodas x 25 days (excluding owambe) = 75 bottles of soda.

In a full year, that’s about 900 bottles. We could round it up to a thousand, and we can officially say that you have “consumed a business.” While a lot of women say that the consumption of soda helps to cut calories, I’m here to tell you that there are chemical supplements in soda that increase your belly fat and cause a lot of health challenges. So, please avoid soda, especially the ones with “Ice block” (as we call it) that you always like.

2. Raw eggs

If I tell you that I understand the motivations behind some of the things we women consume today, I will be lying, but yes, a lot of us women take our eggs raw, and for some reason, they feel it helps us get raw and direct protein for their workouts.

Well done, thou good and faithful workout machine, but you need to understand that taking your eggs raw puts you at risk of salmonella infection, which causes food poisoning, cramps, vomiting, and diarrhoea (aka pile). Is it really worth it? I’ll leave you to answer that.

3. Alcohol

I’m not putting a stop to your social life but as much as you can, reduce or totally stop the consumption of alcohol because it causes a lot of problems for women – and this is not just for pregnant and breastfeeding women. In case you didn’t know, if you take a lot of alcohol, you expose your body to a lot of weight gain and even the possibility of cancer which is one major killer in the world today.

4. Excessive coffee

Coffee is great. It gives a lot of energy when we are down and need to do some more work. However, if, as a career woman, you turn coffee into your daily bread, it begins to feast on your body. As an adult woman, you need only about 400 milligrams of coffee a day but having anything more than this (more than 3 cups), you can get diagnosed with osteoporosis which can drastically reduce your chances of having a baby – I do not think coffee is worth that risk.

Bottom Line

Health is wealth, but most people only get to know the importance of good health on their sickbed. If you have been involved in consuming any of these unhealthy foods and drinks, you need to consciously stop them. You mean a lot to your friends, your family, and even yourself; avoid compromising your health, and eat healthily. See you in the next article.
