Nigerian Track Queen Tobi Amusan, popularly known as Tobi Express, has emerged the 100mH winner at the Stockholm Diamond League.
Tobi Amusan won the Stockholm Diamond League Women’s 100m Hurdles at 12.52 seconds on Sunday.
Finishing with a 12.52s timing, she completely dominated the event, outrunning her closest competitors – Sarah Lavin who finished with a time of 12.73s and third-place runner, Pia Skrzyszowska, who clocked in with 12.78s.
Apart from this feat being her first Diamond League win of the year, it also goes down in the history books as it sets a brand new stadium record.
However, unlike other major track tourneys, athletes competing in the Diamond League series don’t get awarded medals, as they only get ranked according to points.
This would see the top-place eight slugging it out in the final where trophy honors would be at stake.
Reacting to the win with a “Thank you #StockholmDL” and a picture of her official finishing time on her official Facebook page, the America-based Nigerian athlete who is currently the defending champion for the 100m women hurdles competition, has her eyes set on the Diamond League finals.
The grande finale is a two-day event, holding September 16 and 17, 2023 in Eugene, United States of America.
