A visit by Iya Magazine to the Twitter account of celebrated chef and Guinness World Record aspirant, Hilda Effiong Bassey, aka Hilda Baci, suggests that the account has been suspended by the micro-blogging site.
When Iya Magazine opened to her Twitter account @HildaBacci_, we were greeted with this message: “Account suspended Twitter suspends accounts that violate the Twitter Rules. Learn more”
While her account was up and running, this is what it looked like:
Hilda successfully concluded her Guinness Book of Records aspiration at 4PM on Monday [today].
While the cooking marathon lasted, her Twitter handle was a beehive of activities as well-wishers, mostly Nigerians, practically kept vigil on the activities on the handle.
The restaurateur began the competition on Thursday after she turned on her cooker at 4pm and surpassed the current world record holder on Monday morning.
The chef won the maiden edition of the Jollof Face-off Competition in 2021, pocketing a grand prize of $5,000. The Guinness Book of Records has acknowledged the efforts of Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci, at breaking the world cooking record.
The acknowledgement was made in response to an inquiry by one Alexander in the early hours of Monday [today] seeking to know why Baci’s success was yet to be acknowledged by the Guinness World Records.
Alexander wrote: “Why is Guinness World Records not showing or talking about Hilda’s cook-a-thon? Can’t see anything on their pages (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube).”
In response to the inquiry, the Guinness Book of Records wrote on their official Twitter handle @GWR: “We’re aware of this amazing record attempt, we need to review all the evidence first before officially confirming a record.”
The Guinness Book of Records is a reference book that contains human and natural world records. It was first published in 1955 by the Guinness Brewery in Ireland and has since become one of the world’s most well-known and frequently read reference books.
Individuals or groups must submit proof to the Guinness World Records team and go through a verification process to qualify for a world record listing.
