A Nigerian nurse who worked in the UK has been sacked and ordered to leave the country after she prayed for a patient who was dying, according to a social media post by a Nigerian doctor.
Dr. Olufunmilayo, who goes by the handle @DrOlufunmilayo on social media platform X, revealed the shocking incident on his page. He said the nurse was accused of violating the UK health system’s code of conduct, which forbids health workers or caregivers from imposing their religious beliefs on their patients.
He explained that praying for a patient is seen as unethical and unprofessional in the UK. He advised that if a patient asks a nurse to pray for them, the nurse should call a priest or a cleric to do the prayer instead of doing it themselves.
He shared the story online to caution Nigerian health workers who are planning to relocate to the UK or are already working there to avoid praying for patients to prevent losing their jobs and facing deportation.

She was assigned to care for an elderly patient who was dying and she was reported for “praying for the client to get better”.
Yeah. She got sacked and deported.
