When my son said he’d buy GLK 350 4matic in a week, I didn’t know my eyes were his ritual ingredients —Mother

A woman in Delta State, Mrs Oke Eregarnoma, has revealed a terrifying encounter in which her own son, Emma, allegedly attempted to pluck out her eyes for a sinister money ritual.

The incident unfolded at the family’s residence on Caroline Street, Okuokoko area of the state which has sent shock waves throughout the community.

According to Oke, who survived the horrifying ordeal, her son had lured her to his home under the pretext of giving her a surprise gift. Little did she know that this supposed ‘surprise gift’ would turn into a life-threatening situation for her.

She noted that Emma’s plot began to unravel as Oke noticed her son’s unusual jubilant demeanor upon her arrival at his residence. She said it was at this moment she began to suspect that something was amiss.

While recounting the horrifying experience, she said she noticed how her son locked the door and attempted to strangle her before trying to gouge out her eyes.

She said that the situation became even more dire as she screamed for help, but her yells were drowned out by the blaring music emanating from her son’s living room. She said she then knew that her survival depended solely upon God and herself.

So, she began to grapple with her son, and in a desperate bid for survival, she managed to flee to the safety of neighbours, who rescued her.

The woman, currently recuperating on a hospital bed, recalled that her son had ominously boasted before the attack that he “must drive GLK this week.” She said it was this unsettling revelation that added to the gravity of the situation.

The Delta State Police Command has apprehended the suspect who is being detained at the Orerokpe police station.

The incident has left the community in shock and disbelief over the disturbing incident as further developments are being awaited on the ongoing investigation.

A community member who did not give his name noted that “this harrowing tale serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking within the shadows which drives home the importance of remaining vigilant even within the confines of one’s own family, saying it was that vigilance that saved the mother.”
