Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, also known as Kiekie, is a Nigerian content creator who has charmed many people with her originality, humour, and dance skills.
She recently shared how she turned down a lavish Range Rover Evoque gift from her former lover years ago to preserve her dreams and family values.
According to Carwow, a vehicle specialty website, a Range Rover Evoque is a posh, small SUV with an upmarket interior and more off-road ability than you’ll probably ever need; while many of its desirable high-tech features cost extra. It is valued at $ 75,414.01 (or N56,145,730.44).
Kiekie made this revelation on Toke Makinwa’s popular podcast show, ‘Toke Moments.’
The talented content creator, who has a passion for fashion design, opened up about her life before fame.
She said that her ex-boyfriend asked her what she wanted for Valentine’s Day and she jokingly said she wanted a Range Rover Evoque.
To her surprise, the man brought the expensive car to her shop in Opebi in Ikeja, Lagos, a few days later, but Kiekie declined the gift.
Kiekie explained that she rejected the gift because of her self-respect and her family’s principles.
The content creator said that accepting the car would mean that she would have to marry the man, which was something she did not want.
Kiekie also said that the man did not support her business vision and ambition.
She said that the man criticised her fashion design business and did not see the potential in what she was doing.
Kiekie said: “There was this guy I was dating. It was Valentine some years ago and he was like what do you want? I said I wanted a Range Rover Evoque and like three or four days later, this guy brought the Range Rover to my shop in Opebi in Ikeja.
“When I saw the car, it was two things. If I take that car, it means that I’m marrying that man because of the kind of family that I come from. Because my father will be wondering, what made me collect a car from a man, you are marrying the man.”
She added: “Now this is the same man that once said to me, ‘If we are married, you cannot be here more than 2pm. What are you doing? What are you sewing? How much is the cloth you are sewing?’
“That was what he told me. So, he was not thinking beyond what I was doing. He was just seeing me doing what was wasting my time, not that I was investing my time into that thing. So we were not on the same page.”
