Emeka Chochoo, the former manager of actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has revealed the reason behind the amputation of one of the actor’s legs.
He explained that the amputation became necessary due to an infection in the arteries at the ankle, which was not detected early enough.
According to a report, the actor had undergone seven successful surgeries, including the amputation of one of his legs.
Chochoo, who worked as Mr. Ibu’s manager for over a decade, confirmed in a phone interview that the actor is responding well to treatment and is gradually healing. “I was with him up until yesterday. He is responding well to treatment and he is gradually healing,” he said.
He also provided insights into the actor’s medical journey, mentioning that doctors have been addressing various health issues one after another. He pointed out that the amputation was necessitated by an infection in one of the arteries at the ankle.
“The doctors are treating everything one after the other. What led to the amputation of one of his legs was an infection that affected one of the arteries at the ankle. Blood wasn’t flowing into the leg, which was not detected on time. When it was, it had become too late, causing the doctors to decide on the amputation,” Chochoo explained.
Furthermore, Chochoo mentioned that the surgery took place in Nigeria, but that the actor will soon be flown abroad for further treatment.
