The Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (LSCPWB) says intending pilgrims who are unfit will be disqualified from making the Easter pilgrimage to the holy lands.
Secretary of LSCPWB, Mrs. Yetunde Gafe, spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Wednesday, on preparations for the forthcoming tour taking place in June.
According to her, the welfare of pilgrims is of priority to the agency.
“Those who cannot walk and those that get tired easily will be disqualified from making the pilgrimage.
“The medical screening that everyone has to undergo will aid in asserting the fitness of the people before their being airlifted in June.
“The greater part of the retreat requires physical fitness, therefore, we want to go with people that will not pose health challenges over there.
“The worship is a participatory obligation to seek God’s grace and divine intervention for the individual and for the nation,” she said.
The secretary said that the agency could not afford to cut corners by allowing unqualified persons to make the trip to avoid incident of death with all its administrative challenges.
