A domestic dispute turned violent in Okehi community, Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, where one Hope Nwala, a middle-aged woman from Obite Community in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area allegedly attacked her husband, Ekelediri Nwankwo, with hot groundnut oil and a hammer.
As reported by The Nation, the couple had been having issues over the wife’s younger sister who lived with them and whom the husband had allegedly accused of being rude and indecent.
The husband reportedly wanted his wife’s sister to leave his house several times, but the wife allegedly resisted, even after he had reportedly offered the sister in-law money to move out.
“She didn’t like that I gave her sister N2,000 to go away. She thought I was trying to chase her (wife) away, too.
“She was also seeing another man behind my back. I saw them together in the shop I rented for her. He was not a customer, he was just following her around.
That night, when I went to sleep, she poured boiled groundnut oil on me and hit me with a hammer,” the man was quoted to have stated.
The wife was said to have fled the scene after the alleged assault, while the husband was taken to a hospital for treatment.
