PHOTOS: Gunmen unleash atrocious attack on Katsina community

Yar Nasarawa, a community in the Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, was attacked by unknown gunmen on Monday, reports say.

The attack reportedly happened at about 11 pm.

During the attack, the assailants reportedly shot indiscriminately, resulting in the deaths of approximately six people.

They also allegedly abducted over 38 persons and set fire to several houses, shops, and vehicles owned by the villagers.

According to an eyewitness identified as Auwal Liman, “The attack left many wounded and grieving. Those bandits came prepared and they were many.

The terrorists were merciless. They burnt a child. They took him inside his mother’s room, set the room ablaze, and slaughtered another old man in the same house -Resident

“They blocked all the exit routes and shot at everything they saw. I ran into the bush to save my life.”

Still speaking on the incident, Mr. Liman said the ward head, Haruna Wakili, was among those killed the previous night, and they were all buried on Tuesday morning.

He also lamented that for some time, the residents of Yar Nasarawa have stopped going to their farms and local markets due to the fear of being attacked. This time, the bandits invaded the community.

Another resident, Abdullahi Adamu, who said he hid inside a rock during the attack said, “The terrorists were merciless in yesterday’s attack. They burnt down a child. They took him inside his mother’s room, set the room ablaze, and slaughtered another old man in the same house. It was barbaric.”

Mr. Adamu also mentioned that he has lost hope in the government and security agencies.

The Katsina Command spokesperson, Abubakar-Sadik Aliyu, confirmed the incident.
