Hope for Chef Dammy: It’s possible to submit evidence after completing record attempt -Guinness

The Guinness World Record says, contrary to the misunderstanding of its explanation that Chef Dammy didn’t go through the formal process of applying for recognition, “It is possible to submit evidence after a record attempt has been completed.”

An online platform, LegIt, had quoted Guinness as saying, “We have not received an application for this attempt. Applications can be made via the Guinness World Records website for our records management team to review.

“Once an application is accepted, the record claimant receives a set of detailed guidelines, specific to that record category that must be adhered to.

“This also details a list of evidence that must be submitted for our team to verify the record.”

However, a report by another online platform FIJ, quotes the global body as saying that it is actually possible to submit evidence after a record attempt has been completed.

Chef Dammy completed a 120-hour cook-a-thon spanning six days between Friday June 9th, 2023 and Wednesday June 14th, 2023.

FIJ quoted Guinness World Records spokesperson, Alina Polianskaya, a public relations executive at the GWR, on the latest development.

Chef Dammy, a 300-level Mass Communication undergraduate at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), reached her 120-hour cooking target on June 14.

In an interview with BBC Yoruba, she said the cooking marathon was neither an attempt to break the GRW nor a move to compete with Hilda Baci.

“I just did it because I enjoy cooking. It makes me happy,” she said.
