The Lagos State Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) has commenced the distribution of its ‘Lagos Learn Together (LLT)’ learning materials to schools across the six educational districts in the state in a bid to bolster the educational system and engage students during the vacation,
The LLT Learning Platform introduced in 2021 in both physical and digital formats with regular updates, was conceived by the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) to promote remote learning and ensure continuity in education, particularly during emergencies and long holidays.
It aims to serve as supplementary resources to the existing curriculum, providing a rich educational experience for students.
During the distribution of the learning packs, the Director-General of OEQA, Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni emphasized that the LLT program is set to revolutionize learning in the state; adding that it aims to cultivate a strong reading culture and enhance educational equality by providing increased access to learning resources, especially during long breaks.
“With this initiative, we have free learning resources for students, teachers, parents, and all schools up to the tertiary level of education. The physical learning packs, distributed free to students, signify a paradigm shift, demonstrating our commitment to promoting a love for books and harnessing education for the greater good of society,” Mrs. Seriki-Ayeni stated.
The LLT program aligns with the 2023/2024 State’s Harmonized Academic School Calendar, which indicates that schools will resume on September 4th, 2023. The learning packs are designed to keep students engaged and serve as a refresher for modules covered during the academic sessions.
Leveraging technology to drive remote learning, the OEQA has developed an all-inclusive e-learning platform that provides access to educational content modelled after the curriculum, in line with Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus agenda on Education and Technology. The platform caters to students from Primary School to SSS3, ensuring inclusivity for all.
Mrs. Seriki-Ayeni encouraged students to make the most of these resources and seize the opportunities offered by the initiative to enhance their education and contribute to society.
