Many injured as cement truck rams into commercial bus on Eko Bridge

A truck carrying cement has rammed into a commercial bus on the Eko Bridge, Tuesday morning, leaving many injured.

The vehicle is said to have developed a brake failure. Many were involved in the accident.

The truck transporting cement lost control and hit a commercial bus on the other lane of Apongbon.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on its X handle on Tuesday, said the truck carrying bags of cement lost control from the normal side (inward island) and got on the other lane (outward Island from Apongbon, near the NEPA Building.

According to LASTMA, the other commercial bus that was hit by the truck has been evacuated by its officials, who were duly on ground managing the situation.

“Officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) led by the GM, Mr Gbolahan Olalekan Oki are fully on ground. Casualties have been taken to the hospital.

“Effort for evacuation is ongoing and officers are duly on ground managing the situation,” the post read, alongside clips from the scene of the incident.”
