Mother of boy in viral ‘Mummy calm down’ video reportedly kills self

The mother of the famous ‘Mummy Calm Down’ boy, Oreofeoluwa Lawal-Babalola, has reportedly taken her own life.

The heart-wrenching incident reportedly transpired at her residence in Benin.

According to a post on X (formerly Twitter), the woman ended her own life without sharing her inner struggles with anyone.

The tweet reads:

“The woman featured in the viral ‘Mummy Calm Down’ video has sadly taken her own life here in Benin. She chose to suffer in silence, leaving behind three children for her husband, including the well-known ‘Calm Down Boy.”

The video gained widespread attention a few years ago when a young boy was captured pleading with his mother not to punish him and asking her to calm down. The clip resonated with countless people, including the Lagos governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The X-user @Sammy2014 who shared the news claimed he resides near the family in Benin city.

The boy’s video, originally posted by the mother, became a viral sensation, attracting the attention of not only the Lagos governor but also leading to various endorsements and a Nollywood role for the young Oreofeoluwa.
