The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has sounded the alarm over alleged sale of counterfeit Aria Dano 14g full cream milk powder in the country.
The warning, issued Wednesday, comes as investigations by the TG Arla Dairy Product Enterprise company revealed that the fake products are openly displayed in the markets.
In an official statement, NAFDAC directed its zonal directors and state coordinators to conduct surveillance and initiate measures to remove the counterfeit Arla Dano 14g full cream milk powder from markets across the country.
The statement emphasized the need for caution among distributors, retailers, and consumers, urging them to carefully inspect the authenticity and physical condition of the products before consuming, sales or distribution.
“NAFDAC implores distributors, retailers, and consumers to exercise caution and vigilance to avoid consuming, selling or distributing counterfeit products. The products’ authenticity and physical condition should be carefully checked,” the statement read.
Individuals in possession of the counterfeit products are also advised to submit their stock, as members of the public are additionally advised to report any suspected distribution and sale of counterfeit or unwholesome packaged food products to the nearest NAFDAC office or contact them on 0800-162-3322 or send an email to [email protected].
Concerned consumers are also encouraged to report adverse events or side effects related to the consumption of unwholesome packaged food products through various channels, including the E-reporting platforms available on the NAFDAC website www.nafdac.gov.ng, the Med-safety application on Android or IOS stores or via email at [email protected].
