NEMA recovers body of passenger from Lagos lagoon

National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) says it has recovered the body of a male passenger who was flung into the Lagos lagoon along with a female passenger during an auto crash on the Third Mainland Bridge earlier in the week.

This was after two days of search-and-recovery operations by the officials.

The recovered body was one of the two persons, male and female, declared drowned by emergency officials after they fell from the 20-seater bus into the lagoon during an accident that occurred during the Eid celebration.

As gathered, while the body of the male was recovered on Friday [today] at about 3pm, rescue team has intensified search for the female passenger’s body.

The Southwest Coordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, disclosed this through a statement made available to newsmen on efforts made by the rescue team to recover the bodies.

Farinloye added that the body was recovered by the Marine Police officials who had been patrolling the waterways immediately after the accident was reported.
