Nurse convicted as ‘worst child serial killer’ gets life jail

Britain’s worst child serial killer, Lucy Letby, will spend the rest of her life behind bars as she was sentenced to life without parole for her atrocities Monday.

The 33-year-old nurse was sentenced for the murder of seven babies and an attempt on the life of six more while carrying out her duties at the Countess of Chester Hospital in northern England neonatal unit.

Lucy was said to have carried out the dastardly act by overfeeding her defenseless victims with milk, using insulin as a poison on them or injecting them with air, according to the charge sheet.

A senior detective of the British police speaking in an interview with Sky News said that Lucy’s conviction was the combination of painstaking, distressing investigation.

“The key aspect of this investigation has been always asking ourselves, who else could it be, if not her and what else could it be?” he said.

The police officer said it became clearer and clearer that Lucy was the culprit as the investigation unraveled, as she was the most consistent factor in the entire equation.

“What was clear at that point was Lucy Letby was consistent. She was the thread running through them all, and therefore, in evidential terms, the biggest source of evidence,” he said.

A thorough search of Lucy’s apartment reportedly yielded vital clues and evidence that helped seal the case against her as she was said to have been intentional in her selection of patients and calculative in her devilish schemes.

Important pieces of information like patient records, hospital handover sheets numbering about 257 and details of her victims were found in her room; while a note where she scribbled “I am Evil, I did this” and “The world is better off without me”, gave an insight into her state of mind.

Delivering his verdict to an empty dock, as Lucy defiantly refused to appear in the courtroom for sentencing, Justice Goss was scathing in its dispatch as he claimed that she acted against normal human instincts of nurturing and caring for babies and betrayed the trust that the entire citizenry placed on those who worked in the medical and caring profession.

Justice Goss said “You acted in a way that was completely contrary to the normal human instincts of nurturing and caring for babies and in gross breach of the trust that all citizens place in those who work in the medical and caring profession. There was a deep malevolence bordering on sadism in your actions.”

Justice Goss went on to sentence Lucy Letby to life imprisonment on each of the seven lives she took, whilst also making it clear that she stands no chance of getting a parole.
