Rhodes-Vivour’s wife tenders public apology to staff owed 8-month salary

Wife of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s Lagos State governorship candidate in the 2023 election, Dr. Ify Aniebo, has publicly apologized to a former employee who recently called her out for non-payment of salaries.

Her husband, Rhodes-Vivour, had, on Tuesday, intervened by settling his wife’s debt after a user on X, Chike Jones, alleged that he was owed for over eight months, having worked for Ify.

Jones had worked as a writer and social media manager for Afroscientric.com, a project owned by Ify Rhodes-Vivour.

Reacting to this allegation, Rhodes-Vivour, wrote, “I have spoken to Chika and extended an olive branch in acknowledgement of an episode that I hope we can put behind us and look to better days ahead. I believe this episode to have been an exception, rather than the norm, at least considering the context.

“The situation has been rectified and his due paid. I also want to express my gratitude to everyone who offered their support in de-escalating this situation. I thank Chika for his understanding and willingness to move forward and also thank him for his support during the campaigns.”

Jones on Tuesday gave an update on the matter confirming that Rhodes-Vivour reached out to him and paid the debt.

After her husband resolved the debt, Ify expressed regrets on her X account, acknowledging the need for a different approach.

“I’ve reflected and realize that I should have handled things differently. I sincerely apologize. It didn’t have to reach this point.”

“It’s a teachable moment for me, and I appreciate constructive criticism. I’ll handle things better going forward,” she said.

She posted affectionate words about her husband: “#GRVlagos, my love! I’m fortunate to have you. Thanks for your kindness and patience. You are my knight in shining armor.

“Forget the ‘shalaye’ on the timeline; you are well fed this week, and I will be on the menu, too.
