Two security men have been arraigned in courts for allegedly defiling two minors in two separate incidents in different areas of Lagos.
One of them, 31-year-old security guard, Bashiru Ibrahim, was arraigned at an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday and was subsequently remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling his neighbour‘s daughter.
Ibrahim, who resides at 2, CMCM Church St., Ojodu Berger, Lagos, is charged with defilement.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Bola Osunsanmi, did not take the plea of Ibrahim for lack of jurisdiction.
She directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice, and adjourned the case until Sept. 12 for DPP advice.
Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, had told the court that the offence was committed on June 25.
Raji said that the victim is a five-year-old girl.
The offence according to the prosecutor, contravened Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
In a related development, a 37-year-old security guard, Effiong Okon was, on Monday, docked in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old girl.
The police charged Okon, who resides in Omole Phase I, Ojodu Berger in Lagos, with sexual assault.
The Prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the offence was committed on July 18 at 153, Lola Holloway St., Omole, Ojodu Berger, Lagos.
The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravenes the provisions of Section 135 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Bola Osunsanmi, admitted Okon to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Osunsanmi adjourned the case until Sept. 29 for mention. (NAN)
