Nigerians have offered their views as a worker in Abia State University, Anucha Wisdom, proposed to his fiancée right in front of her classmates on Wednesday, which was the Valentine’s Day.
According to his Facebook profile, Mr. Anucha was also a student at the university’s Uturu campus at some point, and he describes himself as a “Writer, Presenter/Master of Ceremonies, Public Affairs Analyst. A dutiful Academic. Lover of God.”
There is nothing on his Facebook wall that says he teaches at the tertiary institution.
His Facebook profile doesn’t reflect his status as a man on his way out of the single’s market, though, as he still has ‘Single’ as his marital status. Neither did any of the photographs of the proposal feature on his timeline.
Based on the photographs uploaded on the Internet, Mr. Wisdom was led into the classroom by someone, he went down on a knee with a ring in his hands, and, looking straight into the face of his woman, he made his intention known, with a team of trumpeters blaring out music in the background.
The young lady, who is said to be a student of Optometry at the university, accepted the ring, to the admiration of her classmates.

Various reactions have trailed the event, and those who believe that he teaches at the school are unsparing in their assessment of his action:
On Facebook, David Davilis wrote: “If we take sentiment out, the fairest judgement he could get is, to be suspended from work until the lady is done with anything that has to do with the school….harsh judgment could even lead to sack…but we don’t want such because creating unemployment is what we should avoid in the current Nigeria….but his gesture was ethically wrong and he should know that. I hope things work for both of them and he receives mere caution and nothing close to the two options I explained above.”
Oluwaseun Enoch: “There is a major conflict of interest, somehow unprofessional. However this is Nigeria and it is unlikely they’ll face any disciplinary action. Congratulations to them.”
Ibrahim Mohammed: “He should have proposed to her outside the university wall.”
Uchenna Nworie Egwu: It’s just for a show. Possibly they have been living together over time. They discussed and acted it. It’s not as if someone was surprised. It shouldn’t be allowed to continue happening in the classroom. It will ridicule our educational face. Many will take advantage and start acting adult shows in the class. He need to be queried. Little things matter.

Is it proper for lecturer to date or marry a student 😁😁

Is this professionally acceptable?

A student of the same school he is a lecturer? I’m not trying to fight love but is it not against the law?

Lecturer’s wife

This is unheard of in other climes where sanity is regarded… That means there’s been some dating going on, how will a lecturer be unbiased if his student that happens to be his girlfriend performs poorly.
These are the things, it’s called work ethics!

He’s not making waves in research, career etc, rather in proposal to his girlfriend. Bobo estipudo

So he did not find another place to propose than in a classroom…he was obviously trying to oppress the single ones there …you no fit tell me anything

There are numerous well-wishers, though, both on Facebook and X, such as this one:
Love knows no bounds! Sending heartfelt congratulations to Anucha Wisdom and his fiancée on their beautiful classroom proposal. Wishing you both a lifetime of love, laughter, and endless joy together. 💍💖
