What NIS is doing to make passport application easy -Ag Comptroller General

The Acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Caroline Adepoju has assured of an improved service delivery to Nigerians, following a social re-engineering ongoing in the service.

Adepoju made the disclosure during an interview on Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television Show.

She said, “I have directed that we carry out trainings again, if you are aware, we have changed the Passport Control Officers because I want to increase the level of responsibility. I am changing most of them who are passport control officers on the rank of Asst. Controller, I am moving them to Deputy Comptrollers and I have charged them to ensure that service and dedication to our nation comes first.

“We have put in place this online thing and whatever might have been happening in the past, with my vision of a social re-engineering and other measures put in place to monitor and evaluate performances, I expect that there will be improved service delivery under my administration.”

While she noted that the Immigration Service is automating the passport application process, she appealed to applicants to go online to apply, and not patronise touts.

Responding to a question on whether there is a feedback mechanism for Nigerians to be able to get through to the Service if they have not been served right, Adepoju said, the measures are available on the NIS website.

“Where the application processes are done, we have dedicated lines, emails on the website and we have people that are available 24hours taking calls and listening to complains of Nigerians. We also have the Service Compact with All Nigerians (SERVICOM) unit, and Anti-corruption unit where people can lay their complaints and they would be taken seriously and investigated,” she explained.
