A lady identified as Aisha Aliyu has been accused of fatally stabbing her husband, Idris Ahmadu, following an alleged disagreement over sex. The incident happened in Nasarawa Village, Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State.
Aisha, 19, and her husband, 24, had been married for only two months before the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday.
A source in the village told The PUNCH that the couple had engaged in an argument over sex, during which Aisha allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Ahmadu in the neck. She was also said to have stabbed him multiple times before he collapsed.
Upon hearing Ahmadu’s cries, the source said, neighbours rushed to their house and found the husband lying in a pool of his blood. They immediately rushed him to a nearby community hospital in Lapai, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, stated that Aisha was currently at large. Abiodun assured that efforts were underway to apprehend her, adding that the case was under investigation.
Abiodun provided further details of the incident, stating, “Today 12/02/2024 (yesterday) at about 1200hrs, information was received that, in the early hours of today, one Idris Ahmadu of Nasarawa village, via Lapai, was stabbed to death by his wife, Aisha Aliyu, 19/20yrs of the same address.
“Before the arrival of the police at the scene, the suspect had fled to an unknown destination. Effort is being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspect.”
