A former spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, Ajayi Okasanmi, has lamented that the elderly have become soft targets for kidnappers.
Okasanmi, speaking in Ilọrin, Kwara State during the National League of Veteran Journalists’ monthly meeting, highlighted the vulnerability of the elderly to kidnapping, emphasizing the need for caution in their activities.
“Kidnappers know that children will do anything to secure the release of their fathers or mothers.
Elders should therefore be careful about where they go and the activities they engage in,” he said.
He also urged elders to be wary of responding to financial messages to avoid falling victim to online fraudsters who use the internet to
perpetrate crimes.
Okasanmi further expressed gratitude to journalists for their support during his tenure as PPRO.
His successor, Adetoun Ejire Aderemi, pledged to build on Okasanmi’s legacy with the support of journalists.
