How I exacted vengeance on PDP for expelling my son -Ex-Gov Fayose

A former Governor of Ekiti state and PDP stalwart, Ayodele Peter Fayose, says he is not sorry to have worked for the APC candidate, Bola Tinubu, in the February 2023 presidential election.

Fayose spoke during an interview on Channels Television programme, Politics Today.

In defense of what would be regarded as anti-party behavior, the ex-governor said what was paramount to him during the election was to have a Southerner emerge the winner at the polls, noting that the North had had their moment which lasted two tenures under the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

“I want the South to be president, I am not sorry about Asiwaju. North has done eight years. It is the turn of the South. Don’t let us go to anybody, I don’t care,” he said.

When asked if he would have supported the presidential candidate of the Labor Party Peter Obi, being also from the Southern part of the country, Fayose said the result of a meeting held by the G5 allowed member governors to work for any southern presidential candidate that had the upper hand in their territory.

Since candidate Bola Tinubu was more popular in Ekiti, he said, he opted to work for him instead of working for Peter Obi, whom he alleged other governors of states like Benue and Cross River chose to promote.

“Don’t let us deny the reality: I worked for Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu. My name is Ayo Peter Fayose Oshoko Mole ekun oke. I cannot at this age be denying what I did. That is the truthm” he boasted.

On why he worked against his own party by campaigning against its official candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Fayose said it was a case of taking revenge on the party for expelling his son.

It may be recalled that, on February 10, 2023, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had expelled a former governor of Enugu State, Chimaroke Nnamani, and six others from the party.

The others expelled were Chris Ogbu from Imo State, Ajijola Oladimeji, Olayinka Olalere, Akerele Oluyinka, Emiola Jennifer, and Oluwajomiloju Fayose, all from Ekiti State.
