Passenger dead, driver injured as car rams into stationary truck in Lagos

A female passenger has allegedly died after a car in which she was commuting was involved in a head-on collision with a stationary 20-foot containerised truck at Isolo under-bridge inward Oshodi, Lagos State on Friday.

The Kia car, with registration number KWL-475CZ, reportedly travelling at a high speed, collided with the truck on the highway, according to a statement by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.

While the car driver sustained injuries, the female passenger died in the accident due to the impact of the collision.

LASTMA officials and men of the Nigeria Police were on hand to rescue the trapped person inside the car, while the dead victim has been bagged and handed over to the Lagos State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit for transportation to the morgue.

The report noted that the damaged car has also been relocated to Olosan Police Station.

“Meanwhile, we are awaiting the agency’s heavy-duty equipment, i.e. a crane and low bed to recover the abandoned containerised truck off the road,” the statement reads.
